Excerpt from Most Serene Republics (2009)
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, many Native Americans traveled to Europe to participate in Wild West shows, and several died there. This documentary film tells the story of Edgar Heap of Birds's 2007 installation to honor those lost. The work was a collateral project organized by the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian for the 52nd Venice Biennale.
