This volume highlights the personal style of Kawamura Bunpō, a painter of the Kishi school renowned for his stylistic versatility. Rather than composing landscapes dominated by lofty mountains, here Bunpō focused intently on figures. Each illustration is paired with an original poem inscribed by the historian and calligrapher Rai Sanyō, exemplifying the superb collaboration between the two artists.
